Young people are the key to our successful future. Unfortunately, in following only conventional routes, we fail to unlock the potential of a significant number of them. She was engaging in risky sexual behaviour. We started working on a plan or her one to one work and Karen also started attending group sessions in our Hillfields Youth Centre. I'm so much happier with my life and having a one to one worker. She's helped to be confident and to make new friends. Our work in the arts - Keegan's story Keegan has volunteered in our music events, he attended one of our arts courses and recently starred in Cinderella. Cinderella has given me a good idea of the work that goes into producing a show. I've had to creatively approach a dynamic character and practice acting in a helpful environment. Our work helping young people into education, employment or training - Emily's story Emily (not her real name) was at a difficult time in her life when she was referred to us. She comes from a third generation unemployed family, she has experienced abuse, has a criminal record and at the time was in a very unhealthy relationship. She was in danger of becoming homeless any day. When Emily started to be in a position where she could seek employment, we went on a journey together: setting achievable career goals, helping with her CV through weekly job coaching sessions and supporting her with writing job applications. After getting excellent references from work experience, Emily secured a job in customer service. Six months later Emily is now still in employment, and continues to use our services in the form of in-work support. My life starts today.
