I've just been reading a great article about the essence of youth work.  Fundamentally it points out that we should be proud of what we do and reminds us good relationships are at the heart of what youth work is.  Why? because as a society we know that  we all need the underlying personal qualities that help us to become part of our communities.  But, whilst we seem to know this, there is very little investment in it.

Anyway, the paper is from London Youth and is far more articulate on the subject than me so please take the time to check out the link.
