History

Set up by 2 young people in 2007. A core group of 20 award-winning volunteers ensure that Youth For Youth is delivered by young people for young people - with creativity and enthusiasm. 

The group now raises £30,000 a year to run monthly music events (PREMIX) and a large community festival (Main Event) with an audience of 1100 young people.  

Y4Y STATISTICS:

• 23% reduction in criminal damage and anti social behaviour when each PREMIX is on
• 25 events held over the past four years for over 5000 young people
  • 87% of young people say PREMIX is ‘good’ or ‘excellent’
  • 78% of young people say it has improved their pride in the area
  • 63% agreed they might have done something more ‘risky’ if they had not attended the events

Y4Y MEMBERS: 

• 9 have gained paid work as a direct result of skills and experience gained
• 3 have started their own music related businesses
• 49 feel their confidence and personal skills have increased - enabling them to take more opportunities
• 46 have improved their skills and knowledge of the music industry and event management
