Finding fun things to do at home can be hard during the best of times. As half term is quickly approaching and restrictions are getting tighter, we’re here to help you get creative and try out new activities at home.

1. Make a sketchbook and fill it with drawings, doodles and collages 

Emily talks you through making a sketchbook with your children. Fun and easy, and gives your child their own personalised sketchbook to fill with memories.

2. Make your own mask

If you’re bored of blue masks, this is a great one. Becky talks us through making our own masks so we can face the pandemic with style! These are also great for the environment, saving us from buying new ones again and again.


3. Draw an anime character

Ta'ziyah Ngozi, a brilliant young illustrator from Babbasa, gives a step to step guide on drawing an anime character. 

4. Make your own self-portrait

Faye from Young Bristol shows you how we can make your very own self-portraits! A good one to get your sketchbooks started.  


5. Practice mindfulness

Melissa starts a 7-day kindness and mindfulness challenge that you can complete over half-term. good resource to help teens stay positive over half-term.  

6. Make Millionaires Shortbread

In case you prefer to get creative in the kitchen, LPW show us how to make a millionaire’s shortbread (a welcome change from all the banana bread we made in lockdown). 

7. Make Your Own Hair Scrunchies

Coco teaches us how to make cute hair scrunchies from spare fabric.  

8. Try out origami

Make some origami fish with Young Bristol! 


9. Fashion Courses 

Have a look at a behind the scenes of one of Creative Youth Network’s fashion courses and learn how to cut the designs for your own clothes.  

10. Learn about Black History

Half-term is a great time for young people to learn things not always on the curriculum. BBC offers a series of videos telling us different stories that celebrate black history, culture, and heritage.
