The Station

Welcome to The Station!

The Station is Bristol's Central Youth Hub. We are open to all young people and offer a place to relax, get advice and support, and explore your interests and talents.

The Station is a supportive and creative environment where you can express yourself freely. And for any problem, no matter how big or small, we're here to help.

Some of the top youth organisations in the South West are here under the same roof, giving you a wide choice of services and things to do.

The Station is open Mon-Fri from 9am - 9pm and Sat from 9am-5pm.

We're also a vibrant event venue and this Autumn / Winter season we're bringing you a special Celebration Programme to celebrate 10 Years of The Station!

These events are open to all ages of the general public with free and pay what you can afford options.

About the course

16-25? Out of work? Out of school? Want to work with professionals to learn more about storytelling?

Come join us in a relaxed course, where you can boost your skills and express your creativity for free.

Over the 4 weeks you will be learning key skills in performance, film, public speaking and how to construct a story.

You will work in groups and individually, exploring your creative ideas and improving your confidence.

Whether you're an aspiring spoken word artist, storyteller, musician, MC, media maker or general lover of stories, we'll enable you to reach your potential.

I loved the course, it's been really fun. I've learnt a lot, met new people and got to work with great professionals. The group was well organised and everyone was supportive. I wanted to improve my confidence by taking part and this experience has done just that. I now know I can do so much more than I ever thought would be possible

Storytelling

Filmmakers, directors, actors, rappers, MC's, spoken word artists, poets, sports commentators & writers all have one thing in common: They are all storytellers.

What we say, how we say it - the story we tell ourselves and the stories we tell others - all have a powerful role in our lives. On this course you'll explore your ideas and craft your story using different tools, exploring the right medium, style and opportunity to share your story. There is freedom to experiment and be mentored by expert facilitators, and the process is designed to:

  • Give you a clear and thorough understanding of how to construct and tell stories in different contexts
  • Increase your confidence - both generally and in sharing stories
  • Raise your public speaking and performance ability
  • Generate material that will be practically useful to you in a variety of career paths
  • Offer you an opportunity to explore different creative careers and the skills required to succeed

From Pharrell to Eminem, Kate Tempest to Russell Howard, Russell Brand to JK Rowling - each use the power of stories in a different way to elevate themselves and their work. Explore your connection and command of storytelling through Multi-Media & Performance Storytelling.
