Job Description

Equalities Monitoring Form

Background

Supported by Arts Council England, this project looks to identify a way of helping young creatives in dance, visual arts, music, performance, theatre, digital and multimedia backgrounds aged 16 to 25 years old. The project helps each of those involved with their own practice to create new and innovative work in the city centre of Bristol at The Station.

What’s on offer

Creative Futures provides four artists with the following over six months:

  • Studio space
  • Professional mentoring
  • Work placements / professional experience
  • Money to make new work
  • Showcase opportunities of new work
  • Help in setting yourself up as a freelance practitioner
  • Paid opportunity as a freelancer (see separate job description for more information)
  • Professional business support

We expect you to spend approximately 24 hours a week on the project, 8 of which you will be contracted and paid as a Freelancer. As these hours are paid there is a separate Job Description attached to this call out, however you do not need to apply for this separately. If you require the job description please email [email protected].

What we are looking for

Committed people at the start of their creative profession and career who have a drive and passion for creating new work and developing themselves but who might not have had the opportunity to do so before. We would like people with an idea, whether it is to make a new piece of work, organise an event, start a new online zine (that kind of thing), who can use this opportunity to do it and be part of a fun and supportive project and space.

How to apply

We are looking for four young artists, musicians, dancers, choreographers, performers, writers, designers…. basically anyone with a creative vision, idea and passion to apply for this opportunity.

All you need to do to apply is send us an application, which includes the following:

  • Introduce yourself - tell us your name, where you live and what age you are.
  • Tell us about your creativity – what art form do you work in?
  • Why would you like to be part of the project?
  • What could you bring to the role of Freelance Emerging Artist (refer to the job description)?
  • If you were given £200 to spend on making a new piece of work what would you make?

You can chose how to make your application in whatever way best suits you, your abilities and your work. Your application can be filmed, written, a voice recording, a series of photographs, a booklet, or even drawn. As long as you answer the above questions we don’t mind how you apply.

You only need to make one application, please don’t feel like you need to apply separately for the freelance position.

Applications must be sent to [email protected] by 10am on the 2nd June 2017.

Dates

Deadline of applications: Friday 2nd June, 10am

Interviews / auditions to discuss your application and idea of new work: Wednesday 7th June

Project start: Monday 12th June

End of project: 30th November
