Creative YOU

Creativity is everywhere. Opportunity is not.

We are part of the solution. The secret is in our name. Every year Creative Youth Network gives thousands of young people a taste and thirst for the arts and culture and the joy, life-skills and opportunity they bring.

But we want more.

Creative YOU is our campaign showcasing how we, you and the engaged, emerging and amazing young creatives we support, come together.

We want to reveal how, together, we are ambition, quality, cultural democracy and social mobility in action.

Every young person deserves the right to access creativity and development opportunities in the creative and cultural industries.

It all starts with education.

If all young people have access to creative subjects in school, then talented young people from all backgrounds can pursue their passion, develop crucial skills needed in so many industries and improve their wellbeing.

1. Pledge

Add your name and join the many people passionate about bringing creativity back into our schools.

With all the pledges we’ll be reaching out to headteachers in Bristol and the South West. We hope this will encourage local academies to give more space to creativity in their curriculum.

Bristol, being the creative city we know and love, can pave the way for other regions to do the same, showcasing the true value of creativity.

6th January 2021

As we enter national lockdown, we are here for young people. We continue to provide vital services for young people in Bristol and South Gloucestershire. With schools shut and opportunities to socialise limited due to the covid-19 pandemic, the mental health and wellbeing of young people is suffering.

Youth workers are here to provide support, activities and respite in this difficult time.

Do you need support for your child?

We know it's a tricky time for parents. If you are unsure if your child would benefit from a youth worker, we have put together a list of signs that a child or young person would benefit from working with us

Our youth workers continue to offer one to one support and small group work for 11-19 year olds, online and face to face. As key workers, we are here to support the most vulnerable.

The pandemic has laid bare the reality of digital poverty, mental health and inequality, and so our services continue in person to reach the most disadvantaged and isolated. We are working with young people online where possible - however, for those who cannot access our services in this way, we provide safe one to one sessions and small group work (of up to 10 young people) in our buildings.

For families and parents, we also offer online activities and creative courses for young people, enabling young people to express themselves creatively, something that’s supported wellbeing during lockdown.

Continue to refer into our services

Teachers and professionals who work with young people know the best who the young people who need support are.

We urge you to refer young people to get the support they need from youth workers. We will work with families to identify the best way to reach out to each individual young person, whether online, over the phone or face to face.

We urge you to think of the young people in your life who are isolated, who are showing mental health concerns, who need guidance to make healthy life choices, or who are facing difficulty with unemployment. We are here for them.

Reaching out in communities

Youth workers are also taking to the streets, working with young people in their communities. Key workers are reaching out to young people, talking to them about the importance of staying at home to protect themselves and others, and offering information about help available for young people who are facing difficult home lives, and online activities to get involved in.
