About

A collection of drawings and imagery from up-and-coming artist Charlotte Pain, reflecting on traveling and moments of solitude in the urban landscape.

Suffering from anxiety since she was 13, Charlotte dreams of seeing the world, but struggles with the reality of getting out there. The exhibition reflects on her wonder, loneliness, fear and eventual discovery of the built environment closer to home.

Charlotte started her journey with us at Creative Youth Network when she was referred by the Job Centre to go on one of our Creative Courses. She started working with the Bristol Museum doing a course on curating, and worked on an exhibition on the topic of death.

It was brilliant, seeing how the museum works. I was then connected to a job coach from Creative Youth Network. She helped me so much. It was a moment I was threading very lightly, I'd been struggling with mental health difficulties.
I then did an administration placement at Creative Youth Network and I also did a placement with the Bristol Museum. I followed on with a job helping out with the Creative Courses and doing administration here. It's been great, I learnt so much. Having this opportunity to exhibit my art now brings me such happiness.
My relationship with Creative Youth Network is truly a personal one. The value of being able to access support is so important. I look forward to hearing feedback on my exhibition and connect with more young people.
