About the online course

Are you aged 13-19 and interested in crafts and textiles? This half-term, go on a virtual exploration of the Bristol Museum & Art Gallery to investigate the historic and mysterious boxes that are stored behind the scenes. Discover what incredible (but real!) wildlife is hidden within, then get creative in response to what you have seen and experiment with new textiles techniques. You will learn how to make fabric insects and feathers, collect natural treasures and decorate your own nature box.

How does it work?

On the first session the group will log on to Zoom (a video call service) so we can introduce the project and go through a 'how to' guide of what to do. Everyone can then work at their own pace over the next couple of days and on the second session we will all log on again to see what everyone has done. We’ll give you ideas of how to take it further as well as let you know what else you can get involved with. As this is an online course we will give you as much support as we can over Zoom but it's important that you are happy and able to do some of the work on your own at home.

You will need to be able to access Zoom via a computer/tablet/mobile phone, if needed we will help you get set up with this before the course starts.

We will also check what materials you have at home and if there is anything else you need we will arrange to send it out to you so you can take part in the project.
