Marina Neil’s series of self-portraits reveal an on-going exploration of self-image and identity with an emphasis on themes such as gender, alienation and pivotal experiences in adolescence. With her works, she encourages the viewer to consider their own identity and expression, and to show these often hidden aspects of people's experiences; to share the normalcy of feeling abnormal. Her works move between a variety more traditional painting techniques and works that collage original printmaking and photographic imagery with digital painting software.

Marina Neil is currently studying a Foundation in Fine Art and Exeter College. She hopes to go onto further studying art, and creating pieces that use mixed media to challenge how we see ourselves and our identity.

This exhibition is bought to you in collaboration with Exeter Phoneix, whom Creative Youth Network have been working with to present a series of exhibitions by emerging young artists from the South West of England. Marina Neil’s exhibition is on tour from Exeter Phoenix.
