Tom Whitson is a freelance photographer and film maker. He works mainly with musicians and labels; and also has a strong community focused and culture sharing aspect of his creative practise.

Tom started working with Creative Youth Network as part of YAB (the Youth Advisory Board for The Courts project); he was part of the young people who had a say in the decisions being made for how The Courts would run look and operate.

As part of Tom's involvement with The Courts, he began using his photography skills to document how space was changing, from disused Magistrates Court to brand-new creative enterprise hub to help young people to thrive.

Although Tom started out as a member of YAB, he then went on to professionally take photographs of The Courts, not only to document the space for his creative process, but also to take the photos we use on our website and social media!

We had the chance to speak to Tom about his process with Creative Youth Network, the opportunities we've been able to provide him with and the joy of his documentation photographs of The Courts being exhibited at The Courts Launch Festival.
