Creative YOU

Creativity is everywhere. Opportunity is not.

We are part of the solution. The secret is in our name. Every year Creative Youth Network gives thousands of young people a taste and thirst for the arts and culture and the joy, life-skills and opportunity they bring.

But we want more.

Creative YOU is our campaign showcasing how we, you and the engaged, emerging and amazing young creatives we support, come together.

We want to reveal how, together, we are ambition, quality, cultural democracy and social mobility in action.

Every young person deserves the right to access creativity and development opportunities in the creative and cultural industries.

It all starts with education.

If all young people have access to creative subjects in school, then talented young people from all backgrounds can pursue their passion, develop crucial skills needed in so many industries and improve their wellbeing.

1. Pledge

Add your name and join the many people passionate about bringing creativity back into our schools.

With all the pledges we’ll be reaching out to headteachers in Bristol and the South West. We hope this will encourage local academies to give more space to creativity in their curriculum.

Bristol, being the creative city we know and love, can pave the way for other regions to do the same, showcasing the true value of creativity.

An exciting development for 2023, we're delighted to launch Nimbus Sounds.

This project is a partnership between Creative Youth Network (CYN), Aspiration Creation Elevation (ACE), Basement Studios and Trinity Centre to support over 2,500 young people from underrepresented backgrounds in Bristol to overcome barriers to progress their musical talent. The project is Supported by Youth Music and using public funding by the National Lottery through Arts Council England.

During the next 3 years, over 2,500 young people from Bristol and South Gloucestershire will have the chance to explore their musical talent and pursue careers in the music industry.

The partnership brings together four organisations who are each working closely with communities within Bristol and South Gloucestershire, where there is limited access to the arts, alongside the expertise of national charity Youth Music. Working together means there will be a variety of programmes to suit the interests of those taking part, as well as wide reaching networks within the music industry to help kickstart careers.

Young people will be co-designers of the programmes. There are three key areas: building confidence, upskilling, and industry experience and insight.

Youth workers and mentors across the partnership will work together with young people 1-2-1 initially, helping individuals to plan out their personal journey to making music, building creative confidence, and nurturing their ambition.

Access to group sessions to upskill at Creative Youth Network and the Trinity Centre and work with artists and professionals will bring music makers together to learn from each other, providing insight and developing skills needed for the music industries.

Creative Youth Network’s Creative Futures Programme will offer employability support for those pursuing a career in the music industry, with free studio space, professional mentors and networking opportunities.
