Have fun Meet friends, listen to music, get creative. You can even learn to DJ, with a chance to perform with lights, lasers and smoke machines in our main social room. The youth club provides security and a safe place for me to spend my evenings. I also like the food and drink on offer at the bar! Plus I have made new friends. Hanham Youth Club is a chilled place where you just relax and have fun. I’d rather be here than at home! I came to club to make friends, and I have. Making new friends is something I find very hard. Get support and advice When you're not too busy having fun, we'll give you support and advice as you need it. Whether it's about problems at home or school, emotional and mental health issues, or questions about your future life and career - we can help you deal with the challenges you face. Hanham Youth Club to me is like my second home. The staff there are always there for you and look out for you making sure you feel safe. Club is somewhere I can go to relax and know that whatever I need, club will support me! To me it's the equivalent to a second home! Volunteer When you join us at the club, you'll see the passion and dedication that our youth workers have for their jobs. You might decide that you want to be an even bigger part of this tight community, by becoming a youth worker yourself. To get a better idea of what it's like as a job, you can volunteer with us at Hanham. Our volunteers, all between 16 and 19, are developing new skills and getting new experience every day, helping them build confidence and get a foot on the career ladder. I am both a regular member and a Volunteer Youth Worker. (I work one on one of our junior nights.) As a club member I have received a lot of support from the Hanham staff. This includes someone to listen to me when I need it. The support is always there but isn’t forced on me, which I like. Also, working as a volunteer has given me the chance to improve my skills, experience and confidence. If you want to volunteer with us, drop us a line at [email protected] Club is a nice and safe space for people from the age of 11 to 18. All the staff are really friendly. As I am an also a Volunteer Youth Worker I get to work with younger members and help them with their struggles in life. I’ve been running the club in Hanham now for over 12 years. It’s such a privilege to work with interesting, fun and genuinely lovely young people and see them grow and mature. Young people come to Hanham from quite far away, often passing more local youth clubs. I feel this shows the quality of the work we’re doing and it also means we have a really diverse membership. The team of experienced staff and young volunteers around me enable us to carry out fantastic and innovative projects. Every session is different and kept interesting. Arran Bees, Hanham Youth Club Manager I’m so proud of our club! We take great pride in offering all of our young people a safe, but informal and relaxed space. We do lots of fun activities and develop a relationship of trust with our young people. That’s how we manage to offer them the information, support and guidance when they need it the most. What makes us so successful is our consistency, dedication and passion. We’re always there for our young people, no matter the circumstances.
