Creative Showcase 2021

Our Creative Courses regularly bring together young people aged 11-16 from diverse backgrounds, in community settings across Bristol and South Gloucestershire.

Creative practitioners delivered Fashion, Puppet Making, Textiles, Art and Animation courses, enabling young people to express themselves creatively. We hope you enjoy the uplifting and inspiring work you can find documented below.

Well done to every single one of you for finding inspiration and expressing yourselves and your emotions through creativity!

We have learnt new skills and sewing techniques on the Fashion course, such as image transfer, embroidery, pattern making, upcycling and applique. Once learning how to do these the group then chose a garment or item to upcycle and produced the incredible creations that you can see here. They are all very individual and have their own style as they have all put their own stamp on the item. Well done!

Saskia - I’ve made a top out of my old school skirt using my own pattern.

Honey - Honey has used an image transfer technique using emulsion paint and then embroidered on top of it to create this piece.

Aleks - I have changed my skirt that my mum gave to me as it was very dull and it was uninteresting, hopefully I will wear it now I have upcycled it.

Connie - I used an old kilt bought from a charity shop and made it into a corset too with boning and rose embroidery as well as a bubble skirt. I also made a matching mask from leftover material not pictured.
