Our Creative Courses regularly bring together young people aged 11-16 from diverse backgrounds, in community settings across Bristol and South Gloucestershire.

Creative practitioners delivered Fashion, Puppet Making, Textiles, Art and Animation courses, enabling young people to express themselves creatively. We hope you enjoy the uplifting and inspiring work you can find documented below.

Textiles

Over the 10-week course the group learnt how to make a cardboard loom for weaving. They experimented with a variety of different and often tricky weaving techniques to make their own woven wall hanging.

They also learnt and improved embroidery and sewing skills and used these skills to design and make their own unique pieces of textile artwork. The group overcame many barriers faced with online learning and should be applauded for their hard work and creativity.

Creative Futures Commission Callout 2024

Get paid to create a commisison! The Creative Futures programme helps young people aged 16 -25 to develop their creative practice and skills. If you are finding it difficult to find your feet as an artist or creative professional, then we can provide the support you need to produce your own work, and develop your networks and skills.
The Station: Hire our Spaces

The Station is a unique building with some of the best competitive prices in Bristol City Centre. Whether you're looking to host a conference, gig or workshop, we have a space for you. Set in Bristol's shopping district, you'll be close to all amenities. Hiring out space is easy, convenient and flexible to fit your needs. By hiring the Station, you are also contributing to our goal towards sustainability and supporting young people in Bristol.

Art

We explored and experimented with a variety of different techniques, these included mark making, printmaking, collage and mixed media.
Fashion

We have learnt new skills and sewing techniques on the Fashion course, such as image transfer, embroidery, pattern making, upcycling and applique.
Puppet Making

We have been experimenting with shadow play and working with different materials to play around with light sources and using objects and shadow puppets.
Animation

We looked at pixilate animations (which is using people in your animation) and bringing objects from around the home to life. We explored camera angles, story boarding and animating techniques.

One to One Support in Bristol

It is with regret that we are now closed to referrals to the Targeted Youth Service (TYS) as of Wednesday 15th March. However, BDP are still accepting referrals for all young people age 11+ who are involved with substances and/or affected by family use.
Who we are

Creative Youth Network is a registered charity based in Bristol, in the South West of England. We are youth workers, professional artists, freelancers, volunteers and campaigners. We help all young people to reach their potential and live fulfilling lives, by building secure, positive relationships with them based on the unique needs of each person.
