What made you apply for Creative Futures?

Since graduating I have been trying to gain experiences that will not only push me creatively but also professionally, this is when I came across Creative Futures. This project will allow me to be a part of a creative community and with the aid of others and attending workshops and events, I hope to be able to really establish myself as a Freelance Artist.

Tell us about the piece of work you’re currently making.

As a new traveller I have come to hold a particular interest in how travelling communities have been represented within visual culture. For my project I will be running a series of workshops with young members of the travelling communities which will explore the history and current portrayal of Travellers within art.

As a result I will aim to make collaborative photographic portraits with each participant, giving them control on how they are represented.

What are you most excited to do on Creative Futures?

I am most excited to learn how to create and run my own workshops, as this is something I have wanted to do for a while and would like to push further within my artist practice. I am already enjoying working alongside the other members of creative futures and look forward to seeing what we create at the end of these 6 months together.

Where do you see yourself at the end of the programme?

At the end of the programme I would like to have gained a network of artist here in Bristol and the skills, confidence and experience to be able to work successfully as a freelance artist.
