Hi, I'm Teddy, a 21 year old Philosophy and Drama graduate from Bath Spa University. I am a theatre director and playwright; my most recent work is my first play MILK!

Why did you apply for creative futures?

I applied for Creative Futures as I just graduated university and was working in retail full time. I was fed up of not knowing how to get into the industry, and with Covid-19 meaning all theatres have been closed, I thought it would be a good opportunity to learn alongside doing something creative!

Tell us about the work you are currently making

I am currently doing the final edits of my first play, MILK. It’s set in a dystopic world and focuses on the dairy industry. The topic I’m going to explore while on the program is domestic violence; I think writing a play based on it will help to educate but also give some audience members a kind of catharsis – knowing that their voice has been heard in some way.

What topics would you like to explore and why?

Domestic violence impacts so many young people across the UK, and I want to stop it being something that has to be hidden. I want to put the power back into the hands of those who were subjected to domestic abuse.

Where do you see yourself at the end of the programme?

At the end of the program, I hope to be more confident in my work, have a better handle on getting into the industry, but most importantly I hope to have helped young people to get their point of view across.
